Elizabeth Dreste, Associate
Elizabeth was exposed to healthcare early, volunteering at her local hospital and observing surgeries as a young teenager. As her education progressed, she learned more about her interests and strengths, next securing a legal internship at the State’s Attorney’s Office during college. Realizing she could combine her passions for law and medicine, Elizabeth entered law school with the intention of pursuing health law at Saint Louis University’s prestigious Center for Health Law Studies. In addition to earning her concentration in health law, she enrolled in SLU’s dual degree program, obtaining both her J.D. and master’s degree in health administration. Beyond the classroom, Elizabeth completed a prestigious internship focused on administration and regulatory compliance with a multi-state Catholic health care system. She therefore has a solid grounding in the business of healthcare, as well as the science of medicine, to complement her understanding of the law.
Elizabeth has been in private practice for nearly ten years, advising hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other ancillary providers on regulatory and litigation issues. She has defended a variety of medical malpractice claims and is valued for her appreciation of the fact-based medical decisions she ultimately must explain within a legal context. Elizabeth brings a personal understanding in supporting the firm’s corporate and individual clients, having grown up with her family business and watching her brother go through medical training, with all the trials and tribulations inherent in both.
